Inside Job? Popular Politician Robbed Ksh 1 Million After Visiting Bank

A Kenyan politician is counting losses after he was trailed by assailants who robbed him Ksh 1 million he had withdrawn from a local bank on Friday, December 3 with police detectives now launching a manhunt against the perpetrators.

Kuya Ole Kijabe, the Member of County Assembly for Kimindet ward in Trans Mara South detailed how he was trailed by a black vehicle immediately he had left a Narok-based bank and ambushed before he was robbed of the cash.

He revealed that he was accompanied to the bank by his driver and withdrew the money which he stashed in a small bag with his passport and instructed his driver to drop him at a hotel in town.

"He went to the hotel and his driver parked the vehicle in the hotel parking yard as the MCA went to attend to his visitors leaving the vehicle securely locked, Another vehicle, a black Nissan Note with unknown occupants parked opposite his vehicle but left a few minutes later. When he went to pick the money in his vehicle, he found the same having been stolen,” an excerpt of the report filed at Narok Police Station read.

Reports indicate that eyewitnesses captured the number plate of the vehicle and detectives are treating the matter as an inside job and a number of bank staff and acquaintances to the politician were to be grilled.
