William Ruto, the Kenya Kwanza presidential candidate has stated time and time again that he would not have objected if the Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission (IEBC) chairman had been Raila Odinga's brother Obnuru. Ruto said this while speaking with the IEBC at the Windsor Hotel in Nairobi. The purpose of the discussion on Wednesday was to resolve concerns that the presidential contenders had.
The DP attempted to clarify that everyone in Kenya has the right to serve if they are qualified while making the remarks about Raila's brother. According to him, as long as the candidates in question were chosen through a competitive process, the issue of tribe or relationships shouldn't be of concern.
Raila expressed reservations about the ethnicity of 10 of the 47 county election managers before the DP arrived through his legal team. However, the IEBC disregarded the complaint, stating that everyone in Kenya has the right to serve if they meet the requirements.
