Opposition Leader Raila Odinga has today declared he is going to hold a parallel Jamuhuru Day celebrations in Jacrarand Grounds
As the government of President William Ruto will be celebrating Jamuhuri Day to mark the crucial time in the country's history, Raila will not join the rest of the government officials and guests, instead, he will be hosting a parallel event.
Taking to social media, Raila has said President Ruto and his deputy, Rigathi Gachagua do not understand where the country is coming from, nor where they want to take the country, and for that, he is stepping up to offer an alternative option to Kenyans
"On the 12th of December, at Jacaranda Grounds, we will have our own celebration of our independence and our Republic.
"Ruto and his deputy have a very narrow view of our Republic. They do not know where Kenya has come from and they do not know where they want to take it," he said in part.
He also assured the country that his planned meetings in the capital are going to be peaceful and that any sort of chaos will be blamed on the government.
