UDA NEC Chairman Sends Tough Message to All Party Aspirants, Comment on Violence Towards Journalists

Antony Mwaura who serves as the chairman of the National Elections Board of Deputy President William Ruto's Party, The United Democratic Alliance (UDA) Party has warned its members and more so aspirants against involving themselves in any form of violence ahead of the party's nominations.

The party scheduled its nomination exercise on April 14.

Speaking to the media on Friday, Mwaura said any of the aspirants who will be involved in any cases of violence, their nominations will be suspended and membership in the party revoked.

"We are not going to condone any form of violence and especially to the PWDs or women. We hold women as an integral part of our party, and any member who will cause or encourage violence and is an aspirant will be disqualified immediately. We are categorical on that," he said.

Following recent violence nested on members of the press, Mwaura said that the party considers the media as a key player in the country during this election season, and they will stand to ensure any media engaging with their party is given the respect and space they need.

"We will not allow journalists to be harassed by any of our member," he said.
