Photo of Wajir New Governor a Day After Former Governor Was Impeached

Wajir county has sworn in a new governor just 24 hours after Mohamed Abdi's impeachment was upheld by the Senate.

Ahmed Ali Muktar has been sworn in as the new and third governor of wajir, and he will be taking over from his former boss with immediate effect.

"AHMED ALI Muktar becomes the third governor of Wajir County after taking oath of office."

Former governor Mohamed Abdi was impeached after MCAs accused him of gross misconduct and embezzling of public funds. Despite his pleas to have the Senate have mercy on him, the Senators voted to send him home.

The former governor was also accused of failing to provide adequate security to county doctors and Nurses, who have already started fleeing from Wajir county.

He joins former Nairobi county governor Mike Sonko and Former Kiambu governor Ferdinand Waititu who were also impeached by their counties for corruption and abuse of public office.
