Malindi MP Aisha Jumwa has no valid degree to contest for Kilifi county gubernatorial seat in the August polls.
The DP Ruto's led UDA outfit has continued to face challenges especially with some of its aspirants whose academic qualifications have been put to test. It all started with Nairobi gubernatorial aspirant Hon Johnson Sakaja who was exposed for not meeting the qualifications to run for office after reports that he didn't have a valid degree certificate.
Now the goal posts have shifted to another UDA aspirant and Malindi MP Aisha Jumwa who is currently at risk of being locked out from running for Kilifi gubernatorial seat. According to documents filled in court, the petitioner wants Jumwa disqualified from the forthcoming elections because of lack of requisite education.
According to the petitioner, MP Jumwa is a form two dropout and so did even quality for higher education meaning that she doesn't meet the minimum qualifications to run for office. The documents further revealed that Jumwa completed her basic education in 1991 and then proceeded to Ganze Secondary School where she dropped out of form two due to lack of school fees.
“The documents in our possession, show she (Jumwa) is a Form Two dropout which leaves more questions than answers,” the petitioners claim.
The Court had earlier on issued an order restraining the IEBC from gazetting Jumwa as a gubernatorial aspirant until the case challenging her qualifications is determined.
