How Hon. Lilian Tomitom Chepochepkai has empowered women, Youth and the disabled in West pokot

Hon. Chepochepkai Lilian Tomitom is the elected woman mp for West pokot county.

The youthful legislator has put in place various measures to ensure West pokot women are fully empowered to conquer the problems they face. She always holds regular meetings with Women to discuss ways of overcoming these challenges. With income generation being top of the agenda,she has helped to empower women economically through establishment of various income projects. Through the National Government Affirmative Action Fund (NGAAF),she has supported close to hundred groups to start various income generating projects. These groups are drawn from Alale,kiwawa,kasei,Lomut,masol,siyoi,among other areas of West pokot county. In the last four years,she has visited close to 300 silc groups ;and has supported them financially. 

"The journey of making a difference in lives of our women is a long one. We have come from far, we have reached far already;and we intend to go far,"she says.

Hon. Tomitom believes that in community engagements where she listens to the views of the people regarding various aspects of development. Also she believes that greatest leader is not necessarily the one who does the greatest things;but rather the one that gets the people to do the greatest things.
