Mother And Her Son-In-Law Elected As Members Of County Assembly In Nakuru

In Nakuru, something extraordinary happened after Bahati constituency, for the first time in history they have elected a mother and her son-in-law to the county assembly of the city.

Grace Mwathi got elected as Bahati ward member of county assembly while her son-in-law was elected to represent people of Lanet Umoja ward. They were sworn in during the third Nakuru county assembly sitting on Wednesday.

“The people of Lanet ward had confidence in my son-in-law and the people of Bahati ward had confidence in me,” said Grace Mwathi.

The two became a family after Samuel Ngarama chose Grace's daughter Lilian to be his wife, and they were strategizing together and encouraging each other during the campaigning period.

Ngarama got elected after losing his second term bid in 2017 while his mother-in-law Grace was coming back into the the county assembly after serving in the previous house as a nominated member.
