Following the 14th quinquennial conference that took place at the Tom Mboya labour college in Kisumu, Dr. Francis Atwoli has been reelected for the fifth time as the secretary general of COTU. The main reason why Atwoli was unopposed is because of being fearless when fighting for the rights of all workers.
Recently, secretary general Dr. Francis Atwoli criticised the energy and petroleum regulatory authority where by he demanded the Parliament to urgently address the issue to alert social unrest. He also said that Kenyans have suffered enough as a result of Covid-19 and therefore the government should not raise the cost of living.
His character of being fearless and always standing for the rights of all workers is what has made him to continue being the secretary general of COTU since year 2001 without having any opposition.
In addition to this, Francis Atwoli is acting as good example to other people in the Nation such that even if he get retired, the person who will replace him should do what Atwoli is doing.
