Former Kisumu Governor Jack Ranguma has joined leaders bashing Azimio La Umoja leader Raila Odinga over his plans to call for demonstrations.
He made the remarks on Tuesday, in the company of other former elected Luo Nyanza politicians, who expressed their discontent with Raila's actions.
Ranguma found it wrong that Raila is stuck on protests and demonstrations, even as his mates focus on more important matters.
He found it interesting that while ex-President Uhuru Kenyatta, who was with Raila in the August elections, is busy with peace talks in the region, Raila is trying to incite Nyanza youth against the government.
Ranguma, who lost to Anyang' Nyong'o, also noted that with the ongoing national exams and battered economy, Raila should drop demo talks for now.
“The Azimio leader may have a point with his rallies but the timing is not appropriate at all. Our children are sitting for their national examinations, the economy is battered and we are just from a hotly contested election,” he told the press at a hotel in Nairobi, as is reported by The Star.
Former Kisumu senator Fred Outa pointed out that demos won't help Nyanza youth in any way and Raila and team should come up with beneficial initiatives.
“Nyanza leaders should do something better for the youth. Protests will not help the young people,” said the leader, who, alongside Ranguma, won the elective offices they held courtesy of Raila's ODM party.
The two are also part of the team of Nyanza leaders that has been praising President William Ruto since Raila's defeat.
The team has been operating under the leadership of ICT CS Eliud Owalo, with its members claiming to be doing it for the sake of the Nyanza community.
