On Wednesday, Kisii County Governor Simba Arati sought to clear the air regarding an incident in which two Members of County Assembly (MCAs) were severely beaten by unidentified individuals.
Arati, who denied involvement in the assault, nonetheless charged his opponents with stirring up opposition to his government among the populace.
“I am happy that these members were all here, therefore this business of saying that Simba locked people in the stadium…did I close them down and beat even the MCAs? I was meeting the idle staff and there was nothing like that. I was not chasing anyone home…these are idle staff who have been in those offices doing nothing,” he added.
Since then, Kisii County police have started a manhunt for the attackers who appeared to have all the necessary tools.
Two County employees and unidentified individuals got into a fight at Gusii Stadium, and during that fight, the MCAs were assaulted.
The unpleasant incident happened during a meeting between Governor Simba Arati and some county employees.
