The senate-house has suffered major losses in the past few months with the house losing several members through death or removal from office. Former Machakos Senator Boniface Kabaka passed away last year after he experienced breathing difficulties while in the company of a lady in Kilimani.
A few weeks ago nominated senator Victor Prangei died in a nasty road accident after his car lost control and overturned. Apart from the losses through death, the senate-house has also suffered from party actions With former TangaTanga senator Isaac Mwaura Losing His seat following disciplinary action by his jubilee party.
The three Senators all belonged to the devolution and intergovernmental relations committee that is chaired by Homabay senate Moses Kajwang. In a bid to replace the three, Majority leader Samuel Poghisio has proposed several changes to the 12 house committees. He has proposed the changes but TangaTanga Senators have vowed to shoot down the changes citing several issues.
Poghisio wants the leadership of the 12 standing committees to be changed in order to increase their efficiency. He noted that there were members who have been joyriding in the committees without attending committee meetings. He has proposed to expel such members.
