General elections in Kenya will be conducted in in 2022. The presidential seat is the one followed keenly by many people. The Deputy President William Ruto has already declared publicly that he will be vying the presidential seat. He has started laying strategies by moving in different corners of the country trying to get support. President Uhuru Kenyatta is finishing his second term at the helm and he won't be vying. One funny thing is that DP Ruto appears not to be in good terms with President Uhuru Kenyatta. The two are now in different factions. DP Ruto leads the Tanga Tanga camp as President Uhuru Kenyatta remains with team Kieleweke. At the same time Ruto is totally against the Building Bridges Initiative(BBI), something that is being supported by Uhuru Kenyatta and the former Premier Raila Odinga. It is not clear even the person the President will support for the top seat in 2022.
In my view, if William Ruto will be in the ballot in 2022 without getting any support from the President or Raila Odinga he might get less than ten percent of the votes in these counties. They include; Migori, Homabay, Kakamega, Siaya, Kisumu, Nyamira, Busia, Kisii, Mombasa, and Kilifi.
