Why Burnt Eldas Polling Center is a Nightmare on Petitions in case Apex Court Orders Vote Recount

Burning of Eldas Poling Station will turn to be a nightmare to Azimio la Umoja-One Kenya Alliance in case Supreme Court Orders for recounting of Presidential elections results.

In a petition filed by Azimio flagbearer Raila Odinga, Eldas is one of the polling center that has been mentioned on his Petition as a Center the results were not included on the final presidential results

On page 19 of Raila's petition, Usurpation of the constitutional mandate of the IEBC by the 2nd Respondent saying that the results were marred by the fact that the respondent contravened Article 138(3)(c) of the Constitution and purported declared results that had not been tallied and/or verified in 27 constituencies, Eldas being one of them.

Yesterday, a fire engulfed the polling center after unknown people torched the CDF building that had stored several IEBC materials including ballot boxes and other relevant gadgets.

This means Raila Odinga stands to loose in case Supreme court orders inclusion of the voted from the 27 constituencies in the final presidential results.

Burning of the store further gives IEBC officials an headache on where to get the ballot papers already cast in case the court requests for the physical papers.

Police in the region are currently investigating the incident to determine the motive behind ots Burning and to bring the culprits into books of law.
