Why Uhuru Kenyatta Could Still Chair the First Parliamentary Sitting Next Month Despite Ruto’s Win

It has now emerged that the outgoing president Uhuru Kenyatta might oversee the first sitting pf newly elected parliamentarians if a petition by Raila Odinga sails through. The news coming as a set back to Ruto who is already realigning his team ahead of his swearing in.

The current uncertainty in the country follows a move by Raila Odinga to challenge the August results saying that the elections body did not conduct the elections as required by the law. He has vowed to challenge the results at the supreme Court which has already instituted a 7 member bench to hear the petition.

The new members of parliament are expected to be sworn In by the end of the month or early next month depending on the gazette notice that will be issued. Raila and Karua are yet to file the case in court almost 3 days since the results were released
