Why DP Ruto Appeared With a 'Green Tie' When Announce His Rigathi Gachagua Today - Opinion

The deputy president William Samoei Ruto today unveiled his official running mate ahead of the August 9 general elections. The second in command was scheduled to name his running mate on Saturday but a need for further consultations delayed the event which happened on Sunday 15th.

The Azimio la Umoja camp on the other side were to name their running mate during their Kamukunji rally but shifted and confirmed that they will announce on Monday.

With the DP naming Mathira member of Parliament Rigathi Gachagua as his running mate, a unusual thing was allegedly witnessed by a few followers today especially in his dress code.

Unlike those other times when the second in command and his United democratic party members appear in a yellow tie or shirt which is their official color. The DP today however, appeared with a green tie. The green color according to our observations are more famous with ANC leader Musalia Mudavadi and FORD Kenya's Moses Wetangula.

With speculations rising higher over the changed clothing idea especially in the event which was a very vital one for both the party and all Kenyan citizens in general, to my opinion he may be decided to match with his partners like they were used to do with President Uhuru during the 2013 and 2017 election campaigns and other government events.

According to me this also is a sign of unity within the camp as it portrays a good picture to both them and even their supporters in general.
