Bad News For ODM Governor After Latest Court's Order Over Petition Challenging His August 2022 Win.

Hassan asked the court if he could add 16 more polling places to the 27 he had already asked to be looked at.

In the application that this source saw, he asked the court to order the Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission to give the court all ballot boxes and packets of used ballot papers from the 2022 gubernatorial election at the polling stations he named so that all valid votes could be inspected, looked over, and counted again.

But the judge in charge of the case said that the Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission, which is a respondent in the case, did not answer his request.

Even though the judge let the petitioner change his petition, he said that the respondents, which include governor Ahmed Abdullahi Jir and the Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission, would not be hurt.

Hassan wants the election of the Orange Democratic Movement party governor to be overturned because the gubernatorial election in Wajir East constituency was not run according to the country's constitution and election laws.

For the governor, who is trying to keep his job, the order is a setback.
