Under the new constitution that was promulgated in 2010 winning a presidential election requires one to secure 50 percent plus one of all the casted votes.
It also requires a presidential candidate to secure more than 25 percent of the votes in 3 out of four counties in the country.
The 2022 succession race has attracted various aspirants but hon Raila Amollo Odinga and the deputy President hon William Ruto are the front runners.
For the former prime minister to win and become the president of Kenya, he needs to secure more than thirty percent of the mount Kenya votes.

He also needs to ensure that his votes in the Ukambani region, Western region, and the coastal region of Kenya remain intact as they were in the year 2017.
The four regions are highly endowed with voters and apart from the mount Kenya region, hon Raila odinga has been getting a lot of votes from the other three regions.
