President Uhuru Kenyatta has announced that Nakuru County will now be officially the fourth city of Kenya Joining the three cities of Kenya Nairobi, Mombasa, Kisumu counties.

Uhuru Kenyatta made the announcement during a State of Nation Address on Tuesday, November 30, and confirmed that he will preside the conferment ceremony on Wednesday, December 1.

He also said that, Nakuru has a reputation of being one of the cleanest town in East Africa and all of Kenya looks to Nakuru City growing in leaps and bounds.

Uhuru's statements comes just few months after Senators approved the application for the city's upgrade following years of pursuit by Home Bay's Senator Moses Kijwang.

The Governor of Nakuru County also campaigned for the upgrade of Nakuru's status by arguing that the town is strategically located to link major urban centers.
