Netizens React To Past Newspaper Cover That Reported About Punishment Of MPs Who Were Jailed

Every 1st May, Kenya celebrates Labour day, a day set aside to acknowledge Kenyan workers and their efforts to get things done properly.

Today, a certain newspaper dated back in May 1, 1980 left netizens in stitches because of the details on it.

According to the source, the newspaper claimed that there were two Member of Parliament who were jailed because of theft.

The two Member of Parliament, Mr Jesse Mwangi Gachago of Makuyu and Mr Godfrey Muhuni Muchiri of Embakasi were sentenced to a 25 months jail spell.

They were in for claims of stealing coffee which got them one stroke of cane daily until they were pardoned by the President.

This is a rare thing that cannot be repeated in the country with how corruption is being practiced everywhere.

Take a look at some of the reactions from netizens;

Abdul Aziz; As per now, when you steal and you in Government, the Government rewards you and the witnesses are done away with or disappear with no trace.

Peter Yule PJ: Strokes of canes, why do judges don't give such a prescription these days?

How will you feel if this will be repeated?
