The new governor of Kisii, Simba Arati, has been instrumental in reforming the county's administration. Prior to taking office, he reduced the budget for the inauguration ceremony to meet the day's needs. He then got rid of some of the county's ghost employees by having each driver stand in front of his or her car for a head count.
In a moving video uploaded by Kisii TV, the outspoken governor can be seen comforting a young, distraught mother who was stuck at Kisii Teaching and Referral Hospital (KTRH). The mother has reportedly been released from the hospital with her breastfeeding infant. Even though the mother has been through a lot, the leader tells her not to cry because she will get comfort.
