Drama was witnessed on Tuesday during the special senate sitting where the newly elected Machakos senator Agnes Kavindu was being sworn in.
Kavindu was sworn in after she successfully emerged victorious in the concluded Machakos by-election where she floored UDA’s Urbanus Ngengele.
The senate had unusual guests who had come to witness Kavindu’s swearing in. These guests included Wiper leader kalonzo Musyoka, Kavindu won under the Wiper ticket, and Jubilee Party Vice Chairman David Murathe. They were witnessing the swearing in at the guest parlor.
However, Murathe’s presence is what angered Ruto allies like Elgeyo Marakwet Senato Kipchumba Murkomen and Nandi Senator Samson Cherargei.
A clash was witnessed between Senator Wamatangi and Senator Murkomen after Murkomen did not agree with Wamatangi mentioning Murathe’s name in the session since Murathe has wrong many in the house. Murkomen pointed out Senator Lagat, who was recently arrested while in the line of duty.
Senator Cherargei agreed with Murkomen. This was when Bungoma Senator Moses Wetangula told the senators to keep matters of Jubilee out of the house.
At this point, the temperatures in the senate were high and speaker Kenneth Lusaka was forces to keep on repeating “Order Senators, Order!”.
Then Wamatangi took the floor and reminded the senate that Murkomen was on record many times revealing that he (Wamatangi) was the one who gave him a wife. He revealed that he(Wamatangi) had the rights to say everting he said and ended by saying that if Murkomen continues with his sentiments then he(Wamatangi) will take that wife he gave him away.
