There was laughter during the launch of the 2021/2022 Administration of Justice in Kenya Annual Report when President William Ruto met a lawyer who took him to court over state appointments
Kenya (LSK) President Eric Theuri sued Ruto over the nomination of Principal Secretaries (PSs), a case that the President won
Ruto noted that he was impressed seeing Theuri in the meeting even after having taken him to court. He noted that, unlike Azimio la Umoja leader Raila Odinga who is organizing demonstrations after he lost a petition case, Theuri has moved on after he lost the case
"I am pleased to see my friend Theuri and I appreciate that it is how the wheels of justice operate. I am happy that he is not threatening to hold demonstrations because he did not win the case.
"It is okay to take me or the government to court. If you have a matter and I lose, it means I was wrong but we leave that to the judiciary to decide," Ruto stated.
His remarks plunged the rest of the audience into laughter, as seen in this video
