It is against the law to use government vehicles for personal issues or use them for campaigns. Kimilili Member of Parliament Didmus Wekesa Barasa has found himself on the wrong side of the law after he branded one of the constituency's NGCDF with UDA color and logo. He also put his photo and that of Deputy President William Ruto.
The vehicle had a fake number plate of KBS 709D while its original registration number was GK948J. The forged number plate is said to belong to Barasa's brother. The DCI officers, Serious Crimes personnel together with the Government Check Unit officers from Nairobi worked together to investigate the matter. The vehicle was taken to Kimilili Police Station and later to Bungoma before heading to Nairobi.
The Member of Parliament is currently on hideout and is being sought to face charges of theft of a government vehicle, and forgery among other serious offenses.
