Besieged Uganda's Opposition Leader Congratulates Martha Karua After Being Named as Raila's Deputy

Uganda opposition leader Kifefe Kizza-Besigye has taken online to congratulate Azimio la Umoja-One Kenya Alliance coalition Raila Odinga and Martha Karua after the duo joined together towards 2022 August polls.

Through his official tweeter page, Besigye termed Raila's naming of Karua as his running mate an historic moment in Kenya and in Africa continect at large.

"Congratulations @RailaOdinga and @MarthaKarua on forming a historic team for a historic moment in Kenya and our region! Truly an “Azimio La Umoja” moment," Besigye tweeted.

Raila in a ceremony held at KICC appointed Martha Karua as his running mate where it was witnessed by thousands of Raila's supporters and cabinet secretaries.

Karua in a acceptance speech promised to work together with Raila and make sure that she delivers the Mt.Kenya votes that will propelled him to be elected as the fifth president of Republic of Kenya.

Besigye who is a besieged opposition leader is currently being held under house arrest by President Yoweri Museveni's government after he allegedly led protests over increased cost of living in Uganda.

Last week on Thursday, Besigye's home was surrounded by police officers in an attempt to block him from accessing Kampala city with allegations that he was planning to lead demonstrations.
