The following are four lessons that politicians and any person aspiring to join politics must learn from the president elect William Samoei Ruto.
1. Learn to depend on yourself and your God
As a politician, the first thing you must learn is to depend on yourself and your God. If William Ruto was banking on president Uhuru Kenyatta to hand him the presidency, then today he would be lost in dismay.
2. Never wait for the perfect time
If William Ruto waited until the year 2022 for him to start Campaigning, I am very sure he would not be polling at 10% in the past polls prior the election.
What he did is that he started campaigning early and the people accepted him early especially in Mt Kenya. The leaders did not accept him. In fact people like Ann Waiguru and Kimani Wamatangi were not supporters of William Ruto.
But when they went to the ground they found that everyone is in UDA. So they realized that the only way to pass in this election was to join UDA and that's what they did and they are now both governors elect.
3. King makers can also become kings
William Ruto said Uhuru Kenyatta Tosha three times and Uhuru Kenyatta became president. Now William Ruto (the king maker) is a president elect.
4. Never give up
William Ruto was abandoned by his boss, disrespected by some government officials and some cabinet secretaries but he was still going. He never gave up like Polycarp Igathe after 6 months of tribulations.
Most of us would have given up and quit the race but this guy Dr William Ruto persevered and see now where his endurance got him. In politics always be prepared to receive attack after attack but never quit. Always set your eyes on the goal.
