Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua now says Azimio la Umoja One Kenya coalition leader Raila Odinga’s upcoming nationwide demos against President William Ruto’s government are a desperate ploy aimed at getting a handshake"There will be no handshake. The only handshake president Ruto is interested in is with Hustlers to give them Hustler Fund," Deputy President said.
Raila has called nationwide demonstrations starting this monday, March 20th, matching to state house, in his efforts to what he termed as “bringing down President Ruto’s system.
But President Ruto said that his administration will not entertain the idea of a handshake, such as the one that occurred between President Uhuru Kenyatta and his rival Raila Odinga in 2018, on grounds that he wants a strong opposition to keep his administration in check.
President Ruto alluded that the current strides by the ruling party to deliver on its promises has irked the Odinga coalition and now they are intending to stage demonstration to destabilize the nation.
Speaking during an inter-denominational church service at Embu University on Sunday, December 3 Gachagua linked the upcoming demos to the March 2018 ‘Handshake’ between the former Prime Minister and retired President Uhuru Kenyatta, saying he is now seeking an audience with President Ruto towards a possible agreement.
