Questions in Nandi as Retired Veteran Politician Allegedly Fields Sons For Powerful 2022 Seats

The entry of Emgwen constituency Member of Parliament Alexander Kosgey into the Nandi county Senatorial race has sparked hot debates, mixed reactions and several unanswered questions on the motive of his sudden political interests.

Since his election to the National Assembly in 2017, Alex has been keeping his politics within his constituency until recently when he showed interest in the Senate seat. Already, a section of Nandi political heavyweights have approved his bid with incumbent governor Stephen Sang taking the frontline after publicly announcing that he is solidly behind Alex's Senatorial ambitions.

However, all this is because his younger brother and popular lawyer Allan Kosgey is already on the campaign trail in a mission to unseat governor Sang and take over as the next governor. Allan lost his 2017 Kesses parliamentary bid in the neighbouring Uasin Gishu county before he retreated to his native home county and officially declared his 2022 gubernatorial bid.

Unknown to many, Alex and Allan are biological sons of the former Moi Era and veteran politician Henry Kiprono Kosgey. Henry Kosgey was first elected to Parliament in 1979 and served the Tinderet constituency for over 30 years until 2013 when he unsuccessfully vied for Nandi county governorship in 2013 and also 2017.

Despite their father's long reign, the two sons are now battling for the most powerful seats in the county.

This is the reason why the two are now a topic of discussion with a section of area residents questioning why Allan moved from Uasin Gishu to Nandi and whether the two will succeed or who among them will shine?.

Other unauthenticated reports have also claimed that the veteran politician is playing behind a scene's role and has fielded his two sons after his efforts to clinch the most lucrative and powerful county seat hit dead walls two times even with his political experience and heavy financial muscles.

The old man has officially announced his retirement from active politics and now Nandi electorates will sit back and wait for the answers to their questions as Kosgey's family spoils to take over the leadership of the 'Home of Champions'.
