"Can any Kenyan citizen disobey the law and give excuses for doing the same, and no action taken on them? Well, it is different when the president is involved, since he has the latitude to do exactly that, that he can choose which court orders to obey and which ones to ignore." Nominated Uasin Gishu woman representative Gladys Boss Shollei as she speaks on Citizen TV today in the morning.
She says, the president has time and again negatively criticized the judiciary, shown completely ignorance to court orders and has chosen to approach otherwise on serious directives from the judiciary.
"I don't fault the president that much, it is his legal advisors and those who write him his speeches," she says, "these are the people who should correct and advice accordingly instances in president's speech that do not consider the general interests of various institutions in the country."
That while addressing the nation on several instances, the country's head has admitted lack of obedience to orders from our courts and has Infact failed to honour the oath he swore to uphold, defend and protect our constitution which he has abused it time and again.
For good measure of progress and performance in our various capacities, there is need to give each one a comprehensive and necessary respect and latitude to operate within their various timelines as stipulated in the constitution.
Respect and adherence is key in ensuring our judiciary is not underrated and viewed as a weak link institution in Kenya.
We have a better country with a bright future ahead, let's all of us participate in ensuring we live the dream our forefathers wanted for us. And that shall be possible if we don't plunge into darkness by casually taking serious things into account, instead embracing one another as important and according proper and necessary attachments anyone deserves.
