Independent Electoral Board Commission clears Johnson Sakaja to run for gubernatorial Seat in Nairobi county. The tribunal lacked mandate to verify the authenticity of Sakaja's degree. The current Nairobi senator hadn't yet cleared by IEBC due to claims of his degree qualifications.
Sakaja presented his academic qualifications which he acquired degree at one of the universities in Uganda. Johnson will vie for Nairobi governor under United Democratic Alliance (UDA). UDA is headed by deputy president William Ruto who is its president flag bearer. Deputy President is competing with Azimio candidate former prime minister Raila Odinga.
This happens as Standoff at Jacaranda grounds, Nairobi after Kenya Kwanza and Azimio supporters clash and police were deployed to restore order. Babu Owino claimed he had booked Jacaranda Grounds for hi function today and notified the police while Ruto booked the same venue on the same day but in 2021 as per their notification letter.
