There was a crisis meeting held by Deputy President William Ruto after he learnt of mass defection of Senators and Members of Parliament from United Democratic Alliance. The meeting happened on Monday 23rd.
According to Kenyans news website, the legislators have 'seen no future at DP Ruto's party after latest loses in the by-elections.'
They are believed to be joining Raila Odinga's Orange Democratic Movement and President Uhuru Kenyatta's Jubilee - the two leaders who are looking to down DP Ruto in 2022 general elections.
They have faulted the strategy used by UDA leaders saying that they are too engrossed in attacking Raila and Uhuru rather than looking at how they can mobilize the public to vote in for their candidates.
Another cause was internal wranglers that were witnessed recently between members allied to it and loses in Kabuchai and Matungu.
It all started after Kiminini MP Didmus Barasa announced that he will be taking a break from national politics. Political pundits interpreted this a way of the vocal politician distancing himself from the UDA and its ideologies.
The move shook the camp, and this made Kapseret MP Oscar Sudi to pay his counterpart a courtesy call in his office. Sudi stated that he asked the Western Kenya based politician to reduce his sabbatical move from 4 months to a lesser time.
