Four Signs Permissible by IEBC that You Must Use to Mark the Ballot to Avoid Spoiling Your Vote

The Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission's rules and regulations state that a voter's vote can only be considered authentic if they mark their ballot paper with one of four signs. If you cast your vote with anything other than the approved signs, you risk having your vote disqualified.

1. Press the 'tick' button.

It is common practice to employ a variety of indicators to indicate that a particular item has been selected from a list of possibilities. Assuming this is the case (the symbol shown in brackets is).

2. The X symbol ( ❎ )

3. A Dot

4. Thumbprint voting is also available for those unable to read or write. Staff from the IEBC will hand it out to voters at the polling location. For fairness, each voter should only draw their ballot once. If a vote has two distinct markings, it will be considered a "reject."
