After a number of Western region MPs who were elected on the platform of the Orange Democratic Movement party, led by former prime minister Raila Odinga, declare that they will work with President Wiliam Ruto's administration, the party is about to lose political clout.
The members of Parliament declared that they would work with the President on behalf of their respective constituencies, led by Hon. Emanuel Wangwe of the Navakholo constituency, Hon. Bishop Titus Khamala of the Lurambi constituency, and Hon. Bernard Shinali of the Ikolomani constituency.
Additionally, the members of Parliament announced that they would trek from county to county in Western Kenya to attend town hall meetings and stress to the locals the importance of backing President William Ruto's administration.
However, they did add that they reserve the right to criticize the president anytime they think he is making a mistake.
The visit to President William Ruto at the State House, which they had previously justified by saying they didn't need anyone's permission to make, took place just a few days prior.
The choice is a major setback for Raila's party, which is battling to maintain its strength and cohesion after losing the elections in August.
