Mombasa governor Ali Hassan Joho has disbursed Sh.23,387, 000 to bright and needy students.
Through his official Facebook page the fund targets 2,453 needy students in colleges, polytechnics, universities and also technical and secondary schools.
"Today I presided over the disbursement of Khs. 23,387, 000 of the 2021 Mombasa County Elimu Fund Bursary Program in Likoni Sub County, targeting over 2,453 needy students in colleges, polytechnics, universities and also technical and secondary schools. Special Needs cases and PWD’s were also accorded special priority," said the Mombasa governor.
Mombasa governor Ali Hassan Joho is a staunch supporter of the opposition leader Raila Odinga.
He said the 4 day exercise will see beneficiaries from the remaining Sub Counties also awarded.
"In this 1st phase, the County Government of Mombasa has set aside KES 150 million but we intend to increase the amount allocated for bursaries to cope with the ever increasing demand from students," he added.
