Kenyans have expressed mixed reactions follow recent remarks by Deputy President William Ruto. The DP was in Mpeketoni, Lamu County among other United Democratic Alliance (UDA) party members to drum support for his presidential bid ahead of the coming 2022 general elections. While addressing the residents, the Hustler cult leader stated that working together is the only way to change the destiny of the country.

His remarks come barely a week since the Orange Democratic Movement party leader Raila Odinga delivered the same message to Eldoret residents. It seems like the DP had heard the words from the former Prime Minister. During his Lamu tour, Ruto went ahead and castigated the Building Bridges Initiative (BBI) bill which is no longer a matter of concern among Kenyans. The DP stressed on empowering women and small-scale traders.

“The Bottom-Up Economic Development Model that we are promoting will ensure that small and medium-sized enterprises access low-interest loans to guard them against exploitative lenders. This will in the long-run support their growth and boost profitability. During the empowerment of women, Boda Boda operators and small-scale traders at the Tiger Grounds in Mpeketoni, Lamu West Constituency, Lamu County, in the company of more than 15 MPs,” William Ruto posted on his Facebook page.

The remarks by Deputy President has elicited mixed reactions among Kenyans with most people claiming that he is good in talking and making promises which may not be fulfilled. His attacks on BBI have however been mocked by some Kenyans, questioning him why he would talk about something that is no longer a matter of concern among Kenyans. Today the DP attacked his opponents for introducing the BBI. What do you think about such attacks on a bill that had already been declared null and void by both the High Court and Court of Appeal? Feel free to share your thoughts and opinions in the comments section below.
