It's Time For Women, Leader Tells Ruto, Raila to Choose Woman Running Mate

All presidential candidates ahead of the August elections are set to announce their running mates latest Monday.

IEBC has given all candidates up to the 16th of this month to make their running mates public ahead of the commission's clearance.

Eyes have been set on the two front runners in the presidential position, Deputy President William Ruto and ODM leader Raila Odinga.

With the two set to announce their running mate, leaders across the country have been urging them to consider choosing a woman as their deputy.

The latest is Kaiti Constituency MP aspirant Terry Mbaika who has called on both Raila and Ruto to consider women for the Deputy President position.

Terry has argued that 2022 is the time for women and youth to get into leadership calling on the frontrunners to consider them.

"As we wait to be told the running mate of our presidential candidate, it is time for women, I would like to request our two front runners, that is Raila and Ruto to give women an opportunity," Terry noted.

Terry said that having a woman deputy will make women in the country feel that they are part of the next government.

Speaking when she visited teams playing in the Terry Mbaika Tournament, Terry maintained that she is committed to narture talents her constituency.

She has also cautioned youths in the constituency not to be used by politicians for personal gains.

"I want to call on my fellow youth, do not allow us politicians to use you during the campaign period, it is your time to stand firm and oppose any politician's plan to use you to cause chaos," she added.

Terry Mbaika is vying for the Kaiti Constituency MP position on a UDA ticket.
