In Petition where Denis Ayiera is seeking to overturn Nyamira Governor Amos Kimwomi's win the Nyamira High court granted request to scrutinize votes.
Judge Kimondo Kanye ordered the scrutiny and recount of votes in three constituencies within Nyamira county as pleaded by the petitioner.
The judge asked the Electoral and Boundaries Commission (IEBC) present all the forms of Borabu, North Mugirango, and Kitutu Masaba Constituencies that were used to tally the results.
“I have kept in mind that the margin of 32,641 votes between the second candidate and the first respondent (Nyaribo) was not narrow. As a general rule, scrutiny and recount are appropriate where a margin of votes is very narrow,” Justice Kanyi ruled.
The Nyamira Deputy Registrar Cyprian Waswa will monitor the scrutiny of Nyanchoka, Nyankoba, Nyabigege, Motagara, Kenyamware, Omonono primary schools’ polling station
