4 IEBC Commissioners Shamed After Faulty Mathematical Calculation Sparked Reactions

On Tuesday, four IEBC Commissioners who had distanced themselves from chairman Wafula Chebukati's presidential results, came out to shed more light on why they disowned the released results.

Addressing the media from Serena Hotel in Nairobi, IEBC vice Chairperson Juliana Cherera, Commissioners Francis Wanderi, Irene Masit and Justus Nyang’aya listed four reasons for disowning the results.

However, it was the alleged error on the 100.01% total number of valid votes that sparked reactions among Kenyans, after Cherera suggestively explained why they had issues with the over 100% figure.

She said the aggregation of the results was a mathematical absurdity that defies logic, wondering why the total percentage awarded to the four candidates exceeded 100%.

She went ahead to claim that the 0.01% plus was equivalent to 142,000 extra votes.

"This calculation adds up to 100.01 percent. This translates to approximately 142,000 votes which will make a significant difference in the final results," Cherera claimed.

However, eagle-eyed Kenyans led by famous politicians Kipchumba Murkomena and Moses Kuria came out to rubbish Cherera's calculations. Here are the comments and corrections;
