Governor Korane Spells Out Measures Adopted In The War Against Drought

Garissa Governor Ali Korane today said his administration will scale up the ongoing response against the biting drought in the county.

He said the county government has already rolled out several intervention programs including water trucking at the sub county level.

He said the national government is also expected to come in to avert starvation in the ravaging drought.

Speaking at separate Nikkah ceremony for Hon Mohamud Omar who is the township MCA and Deiman Aden at Lantern hotel.Issack Mohamed Korane and Furaha Jubat Kalil at the residence of the CEC for Trade and Tourism Hon Adow Jubat, the Governor urged religious leaders to engage more on prayers to end the drought.

"No amount of human intervention can help end the looming drought, we need more spritual intervention to seek the mercy of the Almighty Allah," said the Governor.

The Governor also warned members of the public aganist ignoring the protocals laid by the government in the war against Covid-19 Pandemic.

He said many people lost their lives recently due to the upsurge of the pandemic within Garissa County.

Deputy Governor Abdi Dagane also reiterated on the need to observe the protocals against the pandemic.

The DG attributed what he termed as " a don't care attitude" by the local community resulting in the increasing cases of the disease.

He also urged youths to diversify the marriage to build cohesion among communities in the various sub-counties.

CEC for Roads and Transport Hon Issa Yarrow Kahin, the county Attorney Ismail Aden, Minority leader of the Assembly Hon Mohamed Ali and Dadaab MCA Hon Mohamed Abdi Abo were among leaders who attended the ceremony.
