ODM leader Raila Odinga might soon come face to ace with total rebellion from his Luo community, Former Chairman Of The Board Of Directors Lake Basin Development Authority Odoyo Owidi says.
Raila has been leading the community since the death of his father Jaramogi Oginga, but Owidi, one of this fiercest critics from the same region, has predicted an end to his domination of the Luo.
He argues that throughout his leadership, Raila has been of no help to the Luo, and has only been treating the people with contempt, something he claims the region has noticed and will soon act on.
Owidi holds that Raila believes that the Luo people only exist to help him achieve his political ambitions, forgetting that the same way they have been protecting him, they will rebel.
"Luo, unlike many African communities are a proud community who can protect their leader at any cost. They are however also sensitive to injustice and would rebel at any sign of disrespect," he says.
He claims that the full force of the predicted rebellion will be experienced by Raila's daughter Winnie, who seems like the person he is grooming to succeed him at the helm of the lakeside region.
He has told Winnie to prepare to watch her father's influence in Nyanza fade away, adding that she will have to work extra hard to keep the region together.
"In the Odinga dynasty, the only visible royal is the last born who was recently elected to join the East African Legislative Assembly in Arusha Tanzania - Hon Winnie Odinga. She would however need to come down, and off the ivory tower to survive the imminent disintegration of the father’s fiefdom," he says.
