IEBC Issues Fresh Updates Ahead Of 2022 General Elections In A Huge Blow To BBI Proponents

In preparation for the next coming general election, the Independent electoral boundaries commission has shown its preparedness for the upcoming elections.The independent body has released the time schedule in Fresh updates for the coming election.

This schedule is making an announcement that there is no referendum that is set to be carried out before the next general elections. No time has been allocated by the Independent electoral and boundaries commission for such an exercise.

The updates seem to portray how the events will be carried from preparation to the day of election. The presidential aspirants have been limited that they will not use more than 5 billion shillings in the campaign. A governor is not supposed to use more than 200 million in the campaigns, an MP is not supposed to use more than 33 million in the campaign's

However in the time schedule, in 9th September 2021,will be the final day of the aspirant to conduct fundraisers for the 2022 campaigns. As at 18th October 2021, all parties will present their party proceedings to the IEBC in preparation for the elections. As at 9th February 2022, all aspirants who acts as current public servants are expected to leave the office and write letters of self-dismissal.

On 9th June of 2021 all the presidential aspirants are required to submit their papers to IEBC. As at 16th to 22nd April 2022, all party preliminaries are to be conducted. Campaigns are set to kick-start in 1st May of 2022 and will take a maximum period of two months.

The above schedule that has been released by The Independent electoral and boundaries commission is a major blow to the BBI proponents since there is no time that has been set for referendum.
