IEBC has now given a greenlight to those willing to set up parallel tallying centres where they can monitor their votes after the elections. DP Ruto has been saying that he intends to set up a parallel tallying centre where he will be monitoring the votes cast in his favour. The issue was first brought by Raila Odinga and his NASA team in 2017 but was never successful after the government raided their premises.

Ruto intends to do the same thing after saying that the State is planning to interfere with his votes come August 9th. After attacking Raila over the issue in 2017, Ruto has been mauling over the same idea in 2022 and his close allies have been hinting that the Kenya Kwanza team will have their parallel tallying centre to monitor their progress during elections.

IEBC has today cleared the air and made it easy for Ruto to come with his parallel tallying centre which will be free from interference. Chebukati has said that the IEBC will allow parallel centres for those willing to have them.

“Candidates, agents and the media will be allowed to tally their results alongside those that will be provided by the IEBC,” Chebukati has said.
