William Ruto's UDA party has suffered a blow in his backyard after his allies endorsed a candidate from a rival party. The vocal MP and incumbent senator threw the gubernatorial UDA candidate under the bus endorsing another saying he was the only hope remaining for the community.
The ODM nominated MP said he together with his UDA senator and rival during nominations had decided to back Isaac Ruto for the top seat. He asked voters to choose other leaders for the various seats but vote for Isaac Ruto in the gubernatorial seat. He also said that in the senator's seat, he is yet to decide between UDA's Hillary Sigei and CCM's Enock Kemei.
"Stop speaking to us about suit, we all will white for William Ruto. We are not electing leaders for William Ruto but ourselves. The Kipsigis community is remaining with no leader. Vote in whoever you want for the other seats but please we have agreed with Christopher Langat to support Isaac Ruto. About the senate seat we are yet to make up our minds," the former KNUT secretary-general said.
Many UDA leaders are having a rough time in Bomet county as those from the CCM party are giving them a run for their money.
