In an interview with a local daily on Tuesday, November 9, 2021, the former vice president rejected concerns about his health, stating he was OK.
He assured his followers that his recent uncommon departure from the public glare was not due to illness, and that he would resume his campaigning in a few days.
" I' m very fine. Let people not be anxious. I' m very strong), " the ANC party leader said.
" In a few days' time, you will see me. There is no problem. I' m strong, " Mudavadi added.
Mudavadi was last seen in public on October 31 in Kakamega, when he met with members of the One Kenya Alliance (OKA).

His conspicuous absence from Bungoma Senator Moses Wetangula' s coronation as the Ford- Kenya presidential candidate on November 4 aroused concerns about his health.
The OKA principals had toured the Mount Kenya region and had a large rally in Githurai before to the Kakamega conference.
Ayub Savula, a Lugari member of parliament and ANC deputy party leader, rejected rumors about Mudavadi' s health. He said that the former vice president had taken a sabbatical and would start his presidential campaign in a few days.
" Our party' s leader is in good health, active, and accessible. He took a break since there are still nine months of campaigning left until the next elections, and he doesn' t need to run here and there, " Ayub Savula noted.
Mudavadi wants to be the OKA presidential standard- bearer and has resisted efforts to support Raila Odinga, the leader of the Orange Democratic Movement (ODM).
