On 9th of October deputy president William Ruto confirmed that mt. Kenya is his strong hold while addressing residents of Nyahururu. Ruto affirmed that mt. Kenya region is already decided on who to support in the 2022 presidential race. Speaking to residents of Nyahururu Ruto revealed that he has already cemented his political support in mt. Kenya.
In the recent past Ruto's political rival, former prime minister Raila Odinga has been touring mt. Kenya region to seek support for his 2022 presidential bid. However, Ruto has termed his political rivals as "new comers" arguing that they are welcome in mt. Kenya but the region has already decided to support him.
The DP claimed that Raila has little understanding of challenges facing mt. Kenya residents. He said that while Raila was away, his team was busy bulding roads, the SGR and developing social institutions such as schools and hospitals in the region. He affirmed that mt. Kenya region is a UDA strong hold.
The deputy president continued with his campaigns in Naibor, Nanyuki and Nyahururu where he pleaded with the residents to support the United Democratic Alliance (UDA). He asked the residents to stay away from tribal politics being engineered by his political rivals.
Over that last three years Ruto has enjoyed a good political support from m.t Kenya. Various politicians such as hon.Kimani Ichungwa, David Nyoro, and Allice Wahome have publicly declared to support Ruto in the 2022 general election. This has spirked different opinions in the political arena. Some believe that mt. Kenya is politically divided while others feel that mt.Kenya is intact. ￼
