"We Are Ready to Face You in 2027" Wiper Senator Tells Raila in Machakos as Possible Rivalry Looms

On Friday, May 26th, the former vice president, Kalonzo Musyoka, convened all Azimio leaders for a Wiper party prayer service at his family farm in Yatta, Machakos county. The prayer service was led by interdenominational leaders from across all religious formations. Senior leaders led by Raila Odinga, Martha Karua, Jeremiah Kioni were present.

Going by the sentiments that were made by some leaders, a possible rivalry between Raila Odinga and Kalonzo is expected to play ahead of the 2027 presidential election.

Kitui senator, Enoch Wambua, said that Kalonzo Musyoka has stood with Raila since 2013, and up to date he is still standing with him to solve the 2022 election puzzle on how Azimio lost the election.

"Kalonzo walked with you in 2013 during CORD, walked with you in 2017 during NASA and walked with you in 2022 in the Azimio coalition. Kalonzo will still walk with you until we solve the 2022 puzzle," stated Wambua.

The senator however stated that the support is as far as the 2022 election is concerned, hinging of a new political path in 2027. He alluded that nobody should push Raila to endorse Kalonzo arguing that the presidency is fought for not granted.

"Let nobody come here and start pushing Raila to endorse Kalonzo in 2027. The presidency is fought for and not given. We from this region are ready to fight for it. Our people, are you ready to help Kalonzo fight for the seat?" Posed Wambua.

He went ahead to use the Kamba language where he asked the residents whether they are ready to help Kalonzo fight for presidency in 2027. The crowd said they are ready and Wambua finished by saying that they are ready to face Raila and fight for the topmost seat.
