Deputy President William Ruto endorsed Mutunga Muthama Ngengele as a candidate for the Senate seat in Machakos By-election. Mutunga who will be contesting under the newly formed party United Democratic Alliance ( UDA) which is linked to William Ruto.
Taking to his Tweeter account DP Ruto wrote " Greatful to witness the partnership forged by the Machakos Senate by-election hopefuls in favour of Urbanus Mutunga Muthama Ngengele,a hustler from the county. Our gratitude to them for their audacity and leadership to cede their aspirations and back Ngengele for the race."
Other candidates contesting for the seat include Ms. Agnes Kavindu who is the former Machakos Senator Johnson Muthama's ex-wife. She will be contesting under Kalonzo Musyoka's Wiper Democratic Movement and Mutua Katuku who is contesting under Maendeleo Chap Chap party ticket.
If DP Ruto's candidate manages to win the Machakos by-election then this will be a proof of how strong he is politicaly which will be an advantage to him in his presidential bid come 2022.
