Kibaki's Former Bodyguard Still Languishing In The Cold Even After Standing With Ruto To Bitter End

After a successful military career, Colonel ( Rtd) Geoffrey King'ang'i decided to try his hands in politics.

In his first attempt in the murky world of politics, he lost in his bid for the Mbeere South MP seat. But five years later, in 2017, he bounced back in style when he sent home the incumbent, Mutava Musyimi.

But for the former Kenya Army man, who at one point served as former President Mwai Kibaki's Aide-de-camp, the 2022 general election would stretch his political ability to the limit.

In his quest for a second term in office, King'ang'i allied himself with the then Deputy President William Ruto-led United Democratic Alliance. But during the UDA party nominations, she was defeated. This would prompt him to make quick fire political decision: he announced his retirement from elective politics.

Nonetheless, the former KDF man remained a key member of the Ruto campaign machinery especially in the Mount Kenya region. But almost five months into the Kenya Kwanza adminstration, Colonel ( Rtd) King'ang'i still finds himself in the cold having failed to clinch any top job in the Ruto Government.

Has the President forgotten his key foot soldier or good things are on the way coming?
