Kandara MP Alice Wahome minimized criticism of the Kenya Kwanza Alliance's running mate and voiced optimism for the party's leader in Mount Kenya. Wahome was shortlisted to be William Ruto's running mate. Rigathi Gachagua was Ruto's pick. Wahome added that if a presidential contender is powerful, a running partner should be the least of their concerns.
If the presidential candidate is strong, a running mate is unimportant. Wahome: "Don't let a running mate distract us." Our regular visits to the region help us win over undecided voters. Ruto will win Mount Kenya even without a running buddy. His choice of running mate doesn't affect the polls. When questioned further, the congressman said Gachagua was 'faithful'
Gachagua is trustworthy and will deliver for the DP. He's well-spoken, intelligent, and knows Ruto's agenda. If he understands his position and the DP's country plan. She said, "He'll need help, so we're here." When asked if her side felt endangered by former Gichugu MP Martha Karua's entry into 2022 politics, she stated, "The people backing Azimio in Mount Kenya are Raila and Uhuru loyalists." Karua can't boost sales. She can only bring 30,000 votes to Azimio, as she did in 2013' m Wahome: "She won't hurt our votes."
The legislator further revealed that the DP has made formal and personal trips to Mount Kenya to secure the voting bloc. "The DP has visited Kandara four times to examine or commission government projects. In the first term, he came once and sent me twice. Ruto has visited all Mount Kenya constituencies, she said. If his peeps, fundraisers, and church attendance are any indication, the lawmaker says her party leader may visit more. "The DP has made many personal visits. Wahome said most Sundays are for personal visits and church.
