After waiting for a long time, IEBC chairman Wafula Chebukati finally declared William Ruto the president elect. The declaration, which saw a split amongst the IEBC officials was questioned by some leaders. In his acceptance speech, Ruto said that no one has lost because all Kenyans are winners. He also revealed that he spoke to Raila in the morning and they agreed to accept the results.
Sabina Chege, who was Raila's greatest ally from Mt Kenya region has broken silence after that declaration was made. On her official Facebook page, she has said;
"So do not fear, for I am with you; do not be dismayed, for I am your God. I will strengthen you and help you; I will uphold you with my righteous right hand." Do not be anxious about anything, but in every situation, by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving, present your requests to God."
Chege did not vie for any seat this year. She is the outgoing women representative of Murang'a county. She has worked hard to ensure that Raila got some votes from Mt Kenya region. She has been asking Kenyans to vote for him too.
